Bernardo Selim, MD, FCCP, will present this year's Margaret Pfrommer Endowed Memorial Lecture in Home-Based Mechanical Ventilation on Sunday, October 18. His lecture, "Home Mechanical Ventilation: The Enduring Value of Respiratory Physiology in an Algorithmic Era," will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. MST in the North Building, Room 131.
Established in 1999 by Dr. Eveline Faure and Dr. Allen I. Goldberg, the award honors their longtime colleague and friend Margaret Pfrommer, a polio survivor and patient advocate. It recognizes a clinician, ventilator-dependent professional, or advocate who has advanced mechanical ventilation and strengthened partnerships between physicians and patients.
For IVUN, the lecture is an opportunity to honor Pfrommer's legacy and the importance of bringing medical expertise and patients' lived experience together to improve care.
The lecture is jointly supported by CHEST and International Ventilator Users Network.
